The Beijing–Guangzhou Railway is a major north–south trunk line in China, running 2,263 km from Beijing to Guangzhou through six provinces. It is one of the country’s busiest and most important railway corridors.
In the southern section, tunnel leakage becomes especially severe during the rainy season and affects operational safety. Previous waterproofing methods had not solved the issue effectively.
At the invitation of China Railway Guangzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd., KÖSTER Beijing carried out an on-site waterproofing trial in an inspection tunnel. Several expansion joints were selected as test areas, and the full process was video-recorded for internal evaluation.
Due to the demanding railway tunnel environment and the very limited daily construction window of about two hours, the client required a fast and reliable solution. KÖSTER Beijing therefore used pressure injection with KÖSTER PUR Gel to waterproof the expansion joints.
