TK International completed a high-end apartment block project in Dersingham Road, London in March 2021.
A requirement for an anti-slip coating in the underground car park along with a moisture mitigation system was identified and proposed by Renlon Limited during the design phase.
During construction, the basement car park was open to the elements, allowing the basement area to flood. After the upper levels were constructed and the building waterproofed, the heavily moisture saturated slab could then be prepared and sealed.
Koster VAP 2000 FS was chosen as the fast-setting vapour barrier. VAP reduces Moisture Vapor Emission Rates and alkalinity to levels acceptable for resilient and epoxy flooring systems.
The area was shot-blasted to provide a CSP 3-4 (Light-Medium) profile. Crack stabilization and repairs were carried out with Koster KB Pox IN and kiln dried sand which was left to cure overnight.
After the VAP layer had cured and any pinholes were checked and addressed. The area received two coats of Koster CT215 Universal Floor. Both coats were roller applied. The second coat had Koster Anti-Slip granules mixed in to provide a R11 slip resistance rating.
