Germany, Thedinghausen, curtain injection in the basement of a private home Due to its proximity to the river Weser and the river Eiter flowing past the town, damp problems often occur in cellars in Thedinghausen near Bremen. Subsequent waterproofing was therefore carried out in a residential building from the negative side using curtain injection with KÖSTER Injection Gel G4 in order to long-term protect the basement from penetrating moisture. The building from the 1980s was extensively renovated as part of the project.
A particular challenge was posed by the basement walls made of expanded clay blocks, whose cavities had not been filled. However, the injection method chosen meant that even these hard-to-access areas could be reliably reached and waterproofed. A major advantage of curtain injection is the creation of a continuous, water-impermeable barrier in the area in contact with the ground. This not only permanently prevents the ingress of moisture, but also significantly improves the use of the basement. At the same time, the building fabric is sustainably protected against damage such as moisture penetration, spalling, and mold growth.
